One of the many things that people struggle with when tackling a healthy eating lifestyle is to still eat healthy when they are on the go. It sure is not the easiest thing to do but not as hard as a lot of the people may think. One key thing that should always be in the back of your head is not to be too hard or strict on yourself. Let healthy eating lifestyle come naturally. One of the best tools that you can equip yourself is knowing the eat well plate which is much like the food pyramid. They both give you a rough idea and a guideline as to what you are supposed to eat throughout the day. Having this information at hand can help you plan your meals as well as snacks for the day.

Now when you are going on a trip, carry with you some fruits and vegetables. You can even prepare a fruit salad and put it in an airtight container or just have your fruits in their natural state. You can also make vegetable strips and pack them in an airtight container. Vegetables such as carrots, celery, lettuce, cucumber and cabbage are just but a few examples of the vegetables you can eat in their raw state and do not need much work or effort. Just make sure you’ve washed your fruits and vegetables thoroughly. You can also pack some dried fruit and nuts. These will make for great snacks during your trip, especially when you do not have many scheduled stops.
Homemade sandwiches are also another good idea. Choose your own filling, which can range from tuna, chicken, eggs, vegetables, the list goes on. You, however, need to be careful when making your egg or chicken sandwiches and make sure utmost hygiene is practiced. This is because these foods are susceptible to salmonella which can lead to food poising and you certainly do not want that on your trio! Healthy eating lifestyle is not in anyway difficult to do, you just need to be serious and consistent about it.
Should you prefer to stop over at a takeaway or restaurant, remember to always look at the nutrition facts of the food you want to eat and avoid foods high in saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium and total fat. Choose meat that has been grilled and not deep-fried and go light on the sauces. Fast foods and restaurants are places that I don’t recommend if you really want to practice a healthy eating lifestyle.
